Accumulation and utilization of Geotechnical information

Construction of geotechnical information databases and research of regional ground characteristics
We cooperates with activities such as creating a database and utilization of ground survey information in the Kansai area, etc., and research on regional geotechnical characteristics (Kansai Geo-informatics Network, etc.), and develops geotechnical information utilization technology.

Regional characteristics of Osaka Bay clay
(Ground and Construction of Bay Area, 2002)
Conversion from quantity to quality in geotechnical information in the north-south section of Osaka Plain.
It is possible to grasp the regional composition of the area by arranging several boring logs. The figure shows the continuous distribution of gravel layers (red) and alluvial clay layers (light blue) deposited along the Hanshin Expressway from the Itami plateau. In addition, a loose sand layer (yellow) with a small N value is distributed near the ground surface, indicating that the ground is vulnerable to liquefaction during earthquakes.
Development and research of ground information utilization technology
DIG system development
DIG : It means to ‘dig’ or ‘explore’
In order to make use of ground information, we conduct research and development on utilization technology of ground information comprehensively. The ground information database system DIG (Database system for Information of Ground) developed by the Foundation is widely used in the study of ground characteristics in areas such as the Kansai region and in the design and construction of construction projects.
